Driving Lesson #4

Hey all,

So if you read my previous post you will know that I haven't been very well the last week or so and decided that I wouldn't go driving last week. So I postponed it to this morning and had a good drive.

This lesson was very similar to the previous one so  that I could gain the control of the clutch control and steering around junctions etc. I am finding the biting point an awful lot quicker and my gear changes are now clean, I am now allowed to travel faster as I am now more confident in the car.

Every time I get in the car I am still very nervous and to the point where I actually feel sick, this is not so good because I love it as soon as I sit in the seat and put my hand on the wheel. This is something I really need to overcome as it will improve my confidence in a the actual car and I will be more comfortable with the idea of driving. My instructor says that I am a very good driver so this gives me confidence. It's only my 4th lesson and I feel very proud of what I have achieved so far, I just need to control my nerves! Face my fears and a friend told me just the other day!

Thanks for reading <3

Being Poorly!

Hey all,

So recently I haven't posted on this blog because I have been full of cold and bad tummy! So nothing has really happened that has been interesting so, instead I thought I would tell you how I make myself feel better.

Step 1) MOVIES.
Watch loads of films that you really love or, explore some that you have never seen before. I love to pull out the old Disney classics like The Little Mermaid, Cinderella, Aladdin and of course Tangled and Frozen! I also love a movie called Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron. I always remember my Mum putting this on whenever I was poorly as a kid and all I remember is feeling better as soon as it finished, so if I'm not feeling 100% then this is the movie for me!

Step 2) BE ACTIVE.
Although being ill isn't that nice it is a perfect opportunity to catch up on college work etc. or if you don't have any, if you can, go and get some fresh air, go for a walk or bike ride- something gentle that won't tier you out or make you feel worse. I know I like to walk around the garden or up and down the street. It takes your mind off not feeling unwell and if you have a cold or flu it can clear your head and make you feel a lot better, it worked for me. If you don't fancy a walk, if it is warm enough put a jumper or coat on a sit in the garden with some music that you love and just forget that you feel ill. This will put you in a more positive mind set and help you get better faster.

Step 3) SLEEP.
If you are like really poorly and are not attending work or college then just sleep! A large part of feeling poorly often comes from being tired, it makes your immune system go down, making you open to virus' and bacteria. So sleep it off, don't get dressed and just lounge around. Drink plenty of water and  just eat plain foods, like toast or crackers. Then go back to bed. This will allow you system to clean itself and get better on its own. But of course make sure you see the doctor if you don't feel any better!

I know that feeling ill is rubbish and not fun but everyone gets a bug every now and again, and its more that likely that you will get it when you really don't want to! I know it happened to me! It's just the way it is unfortunately, but there is always next time, right.

So if you are reading this and you are feeling a bit under the weather, give these tips a try and let me know if they worked for you too! They definitely worked for me and I'm feeling better finally!

P.S. if you are feeling poorly- GET WELL SOON!!!!

Driving lesson #3

Hey all

On Tuesday I had my third driving lesson and I can safely say I have managed to start the car and find the biting point. This means I am able to pull out onto roads and get the car moving after traffic lights etc.

I was worried about this on my second lesson so I was feeling very proud of myself when I managed to find it and I didn't stall or anything! Woohooo!

There was plenty of obstacles for me to get around aswell. In the little villages I went through they had temporary road works and tons of the little traffic lights!  I think I stopped at about 6 sets! Crazy! But it really helped me find the biting point and be able to get more practice of properly driving, things that I will really have to overcome everyday when driving.

I drove round a little estate to get used to pulling out and indicating etc. and this again helped me find the biting point and gain clutch control!

I'm feeling very proud of myself and now cannot wait till my next lesson in about a weeks time! Bring it on!!!!!

Driving lesson #2

Just a mini update,

Had my second driving lesson today at 9a.m. and what a challenge. My driving instructor told me that I found last week too easy so he would challenge me today! That he did!

I managed to have mastered the gear box and I am changing gear smoothly but I can't take off after giving way or pulling out onto a new road, I really struggled to find the biting point! However I managed the hill start! As I found it a little tough to get going I stalled twice. My driving instructor said that find the biting point gets easier as you start to do manoeuvres and more complex roads. I went through a neighbouring village or two so I had a lots of giving way and starts to do. Some were fine others not so good! But I will get there I am sure- I can't get everything right on the first try!
I'm still loving it though and I am determined to get it right!

My next lesson is Tuesday and I will keep this little series of me learning to drive going because its quite good to reflect on it as it makes you think!

Hope you come back for more!

Mini Primark Haul.

Hey all,

This Thursday college was closed for an open evening for the rest of the secondary school. So I decided to spend some of my wages on a few treats. When I think treats I think Primark! I really wanted to find some bargains now that sales have nearly ended and I know that they will try an get rid of as much as they can.

The first thing I went on a hunt for were some new jeans. This I something I knew I wanted so didn't mind spending a little bit more for. I bought a pair of 'Vintage Skinny' light blue jeans that said £10 on the label but when I got to the checkout only cost me £5 so I was a very happy customer!

The next item I found was a Tinkerbell T-shirt that says 'never grow up' on it. Peter Pan is probably one of my favourite Disney movies ever so I couldn't resist. I don't think I have ever walked out of Primark with out a kiddy type top! I just cant help myself! The fabric is quite soft too :)
£6 Primark

My third purchase was a long sleeved blouse which is a faded pink colour, I wore this on Thursday night when I helped out at the Open Evening because we had to dress smart because I don't have uniform, just to keep the place looking tidy. I really like this as I would also wear it on a day-to-day basis at college :)
 £9 Primark
Now my real bargain was this blue striped collard shirt. It was originally £10 reduced to £5 and then reduce again to just £1 I was sooooo impressed and lucky that it was in my size and the only one left. It was meant to be! Its so light and looks really nice with my new jeans (which you will see in the pictures). I wore this to college yesterday and I got a lot of comments about it so I made a good choice picking this on up! Plus I love a good stripe too!
Top: £1 Primark
Jeans: £5 Primark

Now moving away from Primark and clothes... our local shopping centre has opened a new bath bomb shop called Bomb Cosmetics (check out their website, you will fall in love- I hope!) and they are the kind you find it gift shops and garden centres and I personally prefer them to the more well known brand Lush because they are a more subtle smell that helps me to relax. My favourites are Over the Rainbow which is a bath bomb and Chasing Rainbows which is a bath mallow but this time I thought I would try some new ones to celebrate the opening of the store! But I will definitely be back to grab my favourites! Can't wait to try these ones though!

Pineapple Expressed
The Land of Milk & Honey
Pink Rosebud Heart

Hope you liked this post, I love a little shop every now and again, who doesn't? Come back for more please!!!

My First Driving Lesson!!!

So,

Today, the 4th October 2014 I had my first driving lesson!!! I was soooo nervous this morning when I woke up. My lesson started at 9:45 and was an hour long.

At first my instructor went through all the controls I will need to know but he said not to worry about remembering them all at once because the more I use the car the more familiar I will become with them. I drove from a near by estate all the way to a near by town, Newmarket. Each way it is about 10 miles, so on my first driving lesson I drove about 20 miles! That is an achievement.

To start with I found it difficult to work the clutch and the accelerator to change gear, but after about 10 minutes I had just about got my head around it. Changing from one gear to another I found simple as the gear box was really easy to use, its my feet I need to practice! The steering was simple although I did get a little close to the edge for a brief second but that was near a turning so he wasn't too worried. I went round three roundabouts both ways, this I found slightly tough as it was a little scary going from one lane to another, but luckily it was quite quiet as it was only about 10.20am, so I didn't get in many peoples way.

The part I really found difficult was the actual stopping as I still have to get used to how hard I need to brake and how long it takes for the car to stop. I'm sure I will get used to it though. I must remember to keep the clutch on!!

The car I am learning to drive in is a blue Ford Fiesta and was a really nice ride. I need to have the seat quite far forward because my little legs don't reach very far. I was very shocked to see the first road I would drive along would have a massive great hill in it and a main A road roundabout!

But overall I had a fairly easy ride and I didn't stall!!! I am very proud of myself! My driving instructor is really nice and I cannot wait to do it all again next Saturday! I hope I remember everything I learnt today!

September Favourites

Hey all,

So September is over, where did that go??!!
This month I have found a few things that I really love. Some of which are new and others are items that I have had for a while but I have been able to drag out of my wardrobe again now that autumn is here!

So, my first item is my leather sleeved Jacket from Primark that I purchased last Autumn costing I think around the £25 mark which I thought was really good considering all the others I have seen have cost around the £40. Primark have some similar ones in this season and I am very tempted to get myself another one because I love it that much!!

My second favourite of September are my beloved black boots of course! I have warn them pretty much everyday which is not so good because the soul is wearing out :( They are super comfy and give me an inch or two in high because I am only 5ft 5in so I am always grateful for a little heel.

The music I have been listening to non-stop is the soundtrack from the off-Broadway musical Dogfight. I really love the music, written so beautifully and sung so well by the beautiful Lindsay Mendez and Derek Klena and the rest of the cast. My favourite song I think is Some Kinda Time (Reprise) I feel it really sums up the whole musical and is such a beautiful moment in the show. I also have been listening to a lot of musical theatre that I had never listened to before; Rent and The Last Five Years. I have also re-discovered Phantom of The Opera which I still love to listen to!
Also this month I also have found my stationary essentials soooo handy. I started back at college at the beginning of this month and all my sticky notes, highlighters, pens and of course minion pencil case have saved my life.
My favourite recent purchase is my pug cushion. I love pugs sooooo much they are so adorable and when I saw this I knew I had to pick it up. It cost me £8 from Tesco and couldn't resist!!!

I also bought three pretty scarfs of amazon as the Autumn and Winter months are approaching to help me wrap up warm and but be able to wear pretty accessories.

Approaching the end of this blog post now but one of my favourite things I did this month was spending time with my bestest buddy Jess, we always have a laugh but it had been a while since we had just relaxed and did nothing exciting or costing money. It really keeps me down to earth and with both feet on the ground.

Finally my favourite thing this month is of course starting this blog, I really am excited about this and feel that if I keep it up it could become quite successful. Thank you to everyone who has read it so far I am soooo grateful. Thank you <3

oh oh oh I have my first driving lesson tomorrow eeekkkk!!!!

Also had a cup of my favourite Yorkshire tea in a sweet Tinkerbell mug that my teacher gave me :) I love that class there is only 5 of us!
Thanks Paige! ♥♥

Just a short update.  Tomorrow I will be posting my September favourites :) exciting!
